In you first session with me, I will be very interested in what your life has been like so far. I will listen deeply to how you talk about the ways you have been misunderstood, hurt and alone. I offer therapy for people who want to get to the root of their issues. I am not afraid to sit with strong emotions. A safe place to be yourself is what I strive to provide, so that you can open up about where you are stuck, in the way you relate to others, in the way you relate to yourself.
背景
Various experiential modalities have shaped the way I guide people in learning to be more compassionate with themselves, including Greenberg's Emotion-Focused Therapy, Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Identifying very specific attachment wounds allows me to provide the support needed to begin to repair what was damaged. Over the past 21 years that I have been practicing psychotherapy, I have been privileged to have so many people share their deepest hurts and dreams for their future with me. I have learned we are all different from each other and have very unique needs. My job is to find out what yours are.

There may be parts of yourself you have locked away, ignored, even shamed....likely because you have been treated that way in the past. What I will do is guide you to give that part a voice (for some people for the first time in their lives). What begins to happen then is that people begin to see themselves differently, with more understanding and caring and gentleness. These corrective experiences can help you stop being so harsh and critical with yourself, and you may find yourself being more assertive with others, and not being so afraid to ask for what you need.

Parts Work
This approach helps people who have self-worth issues learn to care for themselves again. I will guide you to talk to yourself in a more compassionate way. What is so awesome about this type of therapy is that the changes can be immediate and lasting.

Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT)
This type of therapy really brings to life the parts of you that have been ignored. This therapy can improve the way your relate to yourself (you learn to soothe yourself when upset) and this in turn often improves relationships with others.

Emotionally Focused Invidividual Therapy (efit)
This approach was created by the couples therapist Sue Johnson for individuals, and has many similarities to EFT that I listed above, with more of a focus on how you relate to others. We can discuss which approach would fit your needs. Both help you understand and heal attachment wounds.

Compassion Focused Approach
Teaching others how to be more compassionate with themselves is what every client who comes for therapy will experience, as self-compassion is so effective in reducing shame, self-criticism, perfectionism and increasing assertiveness with others.
