After spending 18 years as a foster and adoptive parent, I have come to understand some of the unique challenges that adoption and involvement with the child welfare system creates for children and adults. In my practice I have seen how clients have been misunderstood by therapists who don't understand those challenges and so I do my best to help educate them whenever I get a chance.
Background
I have been foster and adoptive parent for 18 years and have much experience and training related to childhood trauma, adoption trauma, and how the child welfare system affects children, birth parents, and foster and adoptive families. My wife and I also co-facilitated the PRIDE training for the Huron-Perth CAS for several years. I also have experience in entrepreneurship and leadership and enjoy helping others navigate the unique challenges related to those roles.
Your supervision experience with me
My approach to supervision is very much conversational and gentle. My greatest strength as a therapist is listening and helping clients feel comfortable, and I bring that strength to supervision as well. We will explore together and collaborate to identify your strengths as well as growth areas.
