Hi! I know starting something new, especially therapy, can be scary, but starting the process by just looking for a therapist is a huge step you can be proud of! Sometimes we have to be a little uncomfortable for changes to happen in our lives, but the results can be very exciting and worthwhile. Something I love about being a therapist is being able to share this journey with clients and witness all the changes that can come from therapy and learning more about yourself!
Background
My background in therapy and social services ranges from working with children to adults in all walks of life. I enjoy learning new things, whether it is new techniques, about the client and different topics/life in general. I'm always ready for a new adventure or challenge and I get excited seeing clients finding new ways to experience their lives.
Your therapeutic experience with me
My approach to therapy is to always follow where the client is going, respecting the clients needs and what they want to talk about in session. I feel it is important to work with the individual and find out what they feel works for them and tailor the experience to suit their needs and outcomes they hope for. I am a down to earth therapist that understands life is messy and working through the clients journey in a way that matters for them.

Therapeutic approaches
These are my primary therapeutic approaches, backed by specialized training and extensive clinical experience.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT helps challenge the way we think and behave through identifying and modifying unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that arise into more helpful thinking patterns and actions.

Polyvagal
Polyvagal therapy looks at how the nervous system impacts regulating emotions, behaviours and social interactions. It can help find new ways to understand how the body responds to stress and trauma and learning self-regulation to improve the individuals well being and resilience.

Acceptance Commitment Therapy
ACT is working towards accepting thoughts and feelings rather than struggling to control or avoid them, and then commiting to actions that align with their values and where the individual wants to go in life.

ART Therapy
Using art in therapy can be anything including colouring, drawing, painting, clay, crafting, music, movement, journalling, poetry, writing, and any other creative outlets. It can be helpful to look through a new lens and see what the client is going through or what they are hoping for in the future. Sometimes explaining something is difficult, and the use of art can allow the explanation to happen before words are found.
I also incorporate these evidence-based approaches when clinically appropriate:

Person-centered Therapy

Mindfulness-based Therapy

Brief Solution-oriented Therapy

Solution-focused Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy

Strength-based Approach
