KATHY MOSBAUGH
She/HerRP, AWCCA
Registered Psychotherapist
EnglishWelcome! I know it can be difficult to take the first step in reaching out to a stranger for support with your self-care. I have been there too although my journey is not the same as yours. Our 50 minutes together will be your time to unzip and unpack your mental health suitcase in a safe, unpressured space. Together we can connect the dots from childhood to present day, if needed, while finding and integrating healthier tools for present day living.
Background
Hi! I am Kathy, a Registered Psychotherapist who truly believes in the healing power of presence and compassion within a therapeutic framework, as a means to support others on their life journey. My background spans 20 plus years first as an Assaulted Women &Childrens Counsellor and now as a Registered Psychotherapist working from a Psychodynamic base, intergrating various therapy modalities to meet the individual needs of my clients. I am informed in Trauma, Mindfulness, Somatic,IFS, and Polyvagal to name a few. As my education continues ongoing, I am always bringing new therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of my clients.
Your therapeutic experience with me
In my therapeutic care you will find that I am easy going, approachable and always encouraging you to move at your own pace.Once we become comfortable with each other and I have a better sense of you, I will offer modalities and therapeutic concepts that might best resonate with you and reinforce your healing journey. I will work collaboratively with you, offering alternatives for your thought processes while encouraging you to revisit and explore the concepts and thoughts that might no longer be working for you. At all times I will do my best to make you feel safe and in a trusting environment.
Areas of expertise
These are the areas I commonly work with, and they form a big part of the support I offer in my practice:

I also support you in these additional areas and welcome you to reach out if any of them speak to what you are going through:
Therapeutic approaches
These are the approaches at the heart of my work, and I use them often because they help create meaningful change:

Psychodynamic Therapy
Allows for "connecting the dots' for clients. How looking back to childhood and up to current day might explain current issues, thoughts and influences. A wholistic approach to better understanding self.

Polyvagal-informed Therapy
Helps clients understand how the nervous system respond to trauma, and offers tools for developing more adaptive coping.

Trauma-informed Therapy
A strength based approach that recognizes widespread impact of trauma and helps clients find and understand paths for recovery

Somatic Therapy
Focuses on the connection between the mind and the body , while using psychotherapy to address trauma and emotional distress. Offers the insight that the mind and the body carry the impact of trauma.
Focused populations and cultural backgrounds
These are the communities and cultural backgrounds I focus on, and I bring a sincere commitment to supporting you in a way that feels respectful and genuine:
